Leather shoe care tips

Follow a proper cleaning routine

Manisha Malik suggests that you maintain good cleaning habits and always clean dirt from the shoes and follow a weekly or bi-weekly cleaning routine too. Keep a shoe cleaning kit handy at all times. Use a shoe cleaning brush and shoe polish to clean your shoes and bring back the shine. If you do not have the kit, you can use a toothbrush for tender cleaning. To maintain the quality of your leather footwear, you should clean them after every outing.

Store them properly

Use shoe bags to store your shoes and keep them away from dirt. To maintain its pristine condition, keep them away from any direct contact with damageable elements and sunlight. Make sure that you store them in proper conditions.

Leather bags and shoes need to be stored in well-ventilated rooms. You must keep them away from direct sunlight or heat. If you are happy to invest a little for your shoe collection then we would suggest that you buy a shoe tree as it can help you retain your shoes’ shape and reduce creases.

Use a leather conditioner

Use a leather conditioner on your shoes, in order to prevent them from drying and cracking. This life-saving shoe care hack is especially useful for people who live in a warm climate. Use a waterproofing spray after the conditioning process.

Keep a good cobbler on speed dial

If you think that your shoes are in desperate need of repair and maintenance then call your favourite cobbler and hand them all of your lovely pairs. You can also ask them to clean your shoes and polish them.
